Free dinner and conversation at mental health forum Tuesday

DeKALB – People looking to talk more openly about mental health and substance use can do so while enjoying a free meal Tuesday at Hopkins Park Community Center with the DeKalb County Community Mental Health Board.

The “On the Table Community Conversation” will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Terrace Room in the community center, 1403 Sycamore Road, DeKalb.

Anyone is welcome and will enjoy a free, informal dinner and conversation, according to a news release from the health board.

Those interested should RSVP with names of attendees and any special dietary requests to Deanna Cada at dcada@dekalbcounty.org or 815-899-4960 as soon as possible.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the health board is encouraging community members to talk about mental health and addiction.

The “On the Table” project is meant to general mental health conversations around the state to develop new ideas about how organizations such as the DeKalb County Mental Health Board can better serve families, youth, and employees, the release states.
