South Carolina: Deer raised by humans went on attack
AIKEN, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina authorities killed a deer that had been hand-raised by humans after the animal became aggressive and attacked several people in Aiken.
Department of Natural Resources biologist Charles Ruth says the 1-year-old male deer had lost its natural fear of humans and become more aggressive around people.
The DNR says the first attack was reported Jan. 16. Days later, Aiken police were called to the scene of an ongoing deer attack and found a scratched and bruised woman. The DNR says officers found the deer nearby and killed it with a single shot. It says the fur of the well-fed and healthy deer indicated it had worn a collar for some time.
