Active shooter in custody after shooting five officers in west Florence area

FLORENCE — An active shooter situation in the West Florence area is over and a suspect is in custody, according to Florence County Emergency Management’s Facebook page.

Five law enforcement officers have been shot, a Florence County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy has told reporters on the scene.

Florence County Emergency Management reported at 6:03 p.m. that the active shooting situation is over and that the suspect is in custody.

An active crime investigation is still in progress at Vintage Place, according to a Florence County Emergency Management Facebook post at 6:03 p.m.

Chief Deputy Glen Kirby with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office says three deputies and two city of Florence Police officers have been shot.
