Lawn service platform app expands to Spring
Spring homeowners can now choose a landscaper on their smart phones with the help of GreenPal, an app that features local lawn care professionals.
Originally from Nashville, GreenPal launched in Houston in July 2017 and has expanded to Spring after homeowners signed up for the service.
“When we launched in Houston late last summer, we just saw a huge number of homeowners in the Spring area signing up for our service. We knew that Spring was going to be one of the first markets we would launch in 2019,” said Gene Caballero, co-founder of GreenPal.
The app serves as a platform to showcase lawn care professionals, but unlike other on-demand service apps like Uber or Lyft, vendors are paid directly for their services by the homeowners. The lawn service companies are not GreenPal contractors and the individual companies are responsible for implementing their own background check policies.
Vendors can sign up on the app with references, photos of work performed on properties and have commercial equipment.
“What we also do is reviews. We give the homeowner the reliability rating of a vendor,” Caballero said.
The app acts as a lawn care vendor platform through which residents can look up lawn care services and book them.
Once the work is completed, homeowners receive a photo showing the work that was done on their lawn.
Caballero said the app is helpful to both vendors and clients seeking lawn care services because it helps them find each other more easily.
“In the landscaping industry, most guys won’t drive more than five to 10 miles out of their service radius because obviously if they’re driving, they’re not making any money,” he said.
