Mariners’ Stan Javier Leaves Game
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Seattle right fielder Stan Javier left Monday night’s game at Texas after he pinched a tendon in his left knee while batting.
After Javier fouled off a full-count pitch into the stands, he dropped his bat and limped away from the plate. The Mariners listed him as day-to-day.
Charles Gipson came off the bench to complete the at-bat, drawing a walk from Doug Davis on the first pitch he faced. Gipson then took over in right field.
Javier, who has started at all three outfield positions this season, was in right Monday in place of Ichiro Suzuki, who got a break on the day he was named an All-Star starter with the most votes in the majors.
