Helissio Favored In Field of 15 in French Derby
PARIS (AP) _ Helissio, undefeated in three races, is the favorite for Sunday’s Prix du Jockey Club French Derby, which has attracted a field of 15.
Arbatax, also trained in Chantilly, should provide Helissio’s toughest competition.
The traditionally-strong British challenge, successful last year with Celtic Swing, has just four entries. Only High Baroque and Don Micheletto have any realistic chance.
In doubt is the future of Chantilly, France’s leading racecourse and training center for the past 160 years. The financially strapped facility is in need of a facelift.
NEW YORK (AP) _ Ann Marie Lauck added the Advil Mini Marathon to her preparation for the Olympic marathon. Lauck, who has training for the games in Marietta, Ga., entered the June 8 mini-marathon Saturday.
She won the 6.2-mile event in Central Park two years ago.
