UNDATED (AP) — Northwestern is ranked in The Associated Press college football poll for the first time this season, a day after earning a spot in the Big Ten championship game. The 6-4 Wildcats are No. 24 in the Top 25 after beating Iowa to clinch the Big Ten West with two games to play. The only difference from last week in the top 11 teams is No. 8 Washington State moving past No. 9 Ohio State and No. 10 LSU. UCF is still No. 11.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Bobby Petrino is out as Louisville’s football coach after five blowout losses in which the Cardinals allowed at least 50 points. SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Ian Book’s stay on No. 3 Notre Dame’s sideline will be a short one. Coach Brian Kelly announced today that the 6-foot, 208-pound junior quarterback will practice Tuesday and, if there are no setbacks, reclaim his starting spot over Brandon Wimbush. Book led the Irish to six straight victories before suffering a rib injury at Northwestern two weeks ago. Notre Dame is 10-0.
AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) — A flat tire may have derailed Kevin Harvick’s run to another NASCAR championship.
