Constable deputies focus on brightly dressed bandit

A porch bandit who is believed to have followed a delivery truck to a pair of homes in west Houston is being sought by deputies with Harris County Precinct 5 Constable Ted Heap’s Office.

The alleged bandit was captured on video stealing packages from homes in the Lakeside Estates neighborhood in mid to late afternoon Monday, Feb. 25. Investigators are asking the public for help identifying the brightly dressed bandit.

According to the Constable’s Office, the suspect is “seen casually approaching front doorsteps and stealing recently delivered packages from two homes” before walking away.

Heap’s Office reports that about 3 p.m. Feb. 25, the man stole a package from a home in the 400 block of Lakeside Estates. In this video, he was seen wearing a black-and-white BMW motorcycle jacket and bright blue pants with gray tennis shoes.

At 4:30 p.m. Feb. 25, “he steals a package from a home less than two miles away in the 10900 block of Overbrook Lane. This time, the suspect is wearing the same jacket with bright red pants and white Nike slide sandals.”

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slim build. He has short black hair with distinct yellow highlights on the top of his head. The suspect and a “possible accomplice appear to have been following a delivery truck in the neighborhood.”
