REALTOR OF THE WEEK Kari Parsons helps clients navigate the market

March 24, 2019

When it comes to personal experiences in buying and selling homes, Kari Parsons, a Realtor with Greenwood King Properties, knows and understands what it is like to sit on the opposite side of the table.

Before moving to Houston, Parsons and her husband bought and sold homes seven times. She experienced all the good and bad that can go along with that, including the emotions and sometimes stress.

“My husband is in the oil business and we moved constantly for several years. I felt I could use those experiences to help others navigate the process. I know what it feels like to not know where or what to buy when you move to a new city. I love helping new Houstonians or those just interested in moving to a new area, to find a home and provide as much help with all the things that can make it easier,” Parsons said.

Parsons’ main focus area is inside Loop 610, in areas such as the Heights, east of downtown and Memorial Villages. She has always lived in the Museum District, but her daughter attended school in Memorial, so she is very familiar with that area as well.

“It is a very good time to buy inside the Loop, and in the past five years, this area has become one of the most sought-after areas. Buying inside the Loop is always a good investment,” Parsons said.

Parsons has lived in Houston since 1991 and has been in real estate for over a decade.

Prior to real estate, Parsons worked as a therapist at a rehabilitation center for spinal cord and head injuries and in pharmaceutical sales.

She loved working as a therapist, but it can be emotionally draining some days. Her experiences taught her how to work with people and their families in very emotional situations. And even though those situations were much worse, buying and selling a home is often emotional as well.

“When my husband was transferred to Midland, I sold pharmaceuticals. There were very few women in that business at the time and it was a new challenge. This company provided intense and ongoing sales training. I have relied on that training many times as a Realtor,” she said.

Parsons is known for being a true people person and loves helping others, especially when it comes to helping them find the home where they will make their memories.

“I truly enjoy people and love helping them. I like knowing all aspects of a community, such as restaurants and amenities, and share this information with my clients. I moved so often before that I have real understanding of what all is involved in buying and selling a home, so I’m a great resource at helping my clients find the area and home to fits their needs and goals,” she said.
