Planning to start for emergency dredging at harbor

June 12, 2018

HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is going to start planning emergency dredging of the state’s largest commercial fishing port over the next year.

The Army Corps’ 2018 Work Plan includes $275,000 for planning work at Hampton Harbor. The funds will let the Corps assess dredging conditions.

New Hampshire’s Democratic Congressional delegation had urged that the Trump administration prioritize emergency dredging for the harbor. They say severe shoaling has made the water shallow and difficult to navigate. They say the harbor plays a vital role in driving economic growth on the Seacoast and through the state.
