PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ The Philadelphia 76ers put center Matt Geiger on the injured list Friday with arthritis in both knees and activated rookie Alvin Jones.

Geiger played in the Sixers' first four games, but sat out the second half of Tuesday's loss to Indiana.

Geiger missed 47 of 82 games last season because of arthroscopic surgery on both knees and right quadriceps tendinitis.

Jones, a second-round draft choice from Georgia Tech, started the season on the injured list with right knee tendinitis.

The 76ers (0-5) are off to their worst start since 1997-98. Aaron McKie returned to the lineup Thursday night after having right shoulder surgery on Sept. 23, but reigning league MVP Allen Iverson and Eric Snow are still out.

Last year, the Sixers opened with a franchise-best 10 straight victories on their way to the Eastern Conference championship.
