Woman jailed for smashing cup on man’s head, police say
A Lake Havasu City woman ended up in the City Jail after police said she smashed a glass cup into the back of a man’s head during a domestic dispute.
According to Havasu Police, Monique Victoria Ruiz, 23, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated domestic violence, both felonies.
Ruiz was arrested at 12:37 p.m., Saturday, May 25, after the victim spoke with police May 17. He said Ruiz had visited him and he told her to stop stealing from him. He said she didn’t respond and when he turned away from her, she struck him in the back of the head with the glass and then twice punched him in the head.
He said he realized he was bleeding and she allegedly tried to mop up the blood on the floor. He said he drove her to the City Police building so that she would turn herself in, but she walked away.
According to the officer, the victim appeared to have two cuts on the back of his head and dried blood.
When an officer spoke with her the following day, May 18, Ruiz said the man threatened her with a knife and said he was “going to kill her.” The man said he never threatened her with a knife.
Police said that Ruiz had several previous incidents involving domestic violence.
