Eagle helps Latrobe’s Pevarnik lead Pa. Amateur

A chip-in eagle on the 18th hole by Brady Pevarnik gave the Latrobe senior the first round lead at the 105th Pennsylvania Amateur at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown on Monday.

Pevarnik shot a 5-under-par 65 to lead defending champion J.D. Hughes by a shot.

McMurray’s Connor Schmidt was in third place with a 3-under 67.

Round two will be on Tuesday with the low 40 and ties advancing to the final round on Wednesday.
