FOOTBALL: Milford wins 8-man football debut
Milford-Cissna Park 60, Lake Forest Academy 34
8-man football started on a high note for the Bearcats behind Penn Stoller’s four tocuhdown day on just seven carries. He ended the day with 45 yards.
Jared Schunke finished 3-of-6 passing for 18 yards and a touchdown along with 15 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown.
Kennedy Kunsch ended his day with 18 carries for 205 yards and a touchdown while Alex Barney caught two passes for 12 yards and a touchdown.
Milford-Cissna Park (1-0) is back in action on Friday at home against Jacksonville.
Herscher 17, Central 8
Grant Goytia finished 9-for-13 for 115 yards and a touchdown pass in the Tigers’ victory.
Matt Dorsey racked up 28 carries for 187 yards and a touchdown while Elliot Engelman had three catches for 31 yards and a touchdown reception.
Herscher (2-0) returns to the gridiron Friday at Coal City while Central is home against Westville.
Bismarck-Henning 56, Momence 14
Momence’s defense surrendered more than 500 rushing yards, including 171 yards to Caleb Lahey and another 156 to Jacob Akins.
All eight touchdowns over Bismarck-Henning’s touchdowns were rushing.
Offensive stats for Momence were not reported.
Momence (0-2) is back in action on the road against Watseka for a Sangamon Valley Conference matchup.
Tinley Park 14, Peotone 13
Ryan Brewer scored two rushing touchdowns for the Blue Devils, but a missed two-point conversation late in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference.
Peotone (1-1) is back in action Friday at home against Reed-Custer.
