Former LA Mayor Villaraigosa to visit Harvard

August 12, 2013

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will spend several days at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics in the fall as a visiting fellow.

Institute director Trey Grayson says the short-term appointment is designed to bring high-profile individuals to the campus to share their experiences from office.

He says Villaraigosa will likely talk about his two terms as mayor, engage with students groups in sessions across campus, and also talk with faculty members.

Former U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis will also be a visiting fellow in October for several days. They will join six resident fellows hailing from journalism, technology and political backgrounds.

In July, the Irvine-based Banc of California announced that Villaraigosa had been hired part time as a strategic adviser to its chief executive, Steven Sugarman.
