MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Milwaukee’s Paul Molitor became the first American League player to steal second base, third base and home in the same inning since 1974 when he accomplished the feat Sunday against Oakland.
Molitor led off the first inning with a single against Dennis Lamp. Molitor stole second and, after Ernest Riles grounded out, he stole third.
Robin Yount then walked and began a double steal on a pitchout. Catcher Terry Steinbach’s throw to second was cut off by shortstop Alfredo Griffin, but Molitor beat the relay home.
Dave Nelson of Texas was the last AL player to steal second, third and home in the same inning when he did it Aug. 30, 1974. The last to accomplish it in the National League was Dusty Baker of San Francisco on June 27, 1984.
