Driver killed, two passengers injured in Scranton wreck
SCRANTON, S.C. – One man died and two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident Monday afternoon in Scranton.
The crash happened when an east-bound pickup truck ran off the road and into a tree, said Cpl. Sonny Collins, South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The driver died at the scene on High Hill Road. He was identified as Jeffrey Wayne Godwin, 42, by Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken.
Two other passengers were transported to an area hospital -- one by ground and one by air, said Collins.
Neither of the three were wearing seat belts, Collins said.
No word was available Monday night on the injured passengers’ conditions, von Lutcken said through a news release.
The incident, which happened at approximately 4:30 p.m., is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
