HUNTINGTON — The 18th annual Cabell County Public Library Gala brought Greece to Huntington as the fundraiser took place Saturday evening in the Marshall University Memorial Student Center.

The proceeds from this year’s gala will go toward building a new library in Barboursville. The current branch is the oldest facility in the county.

The theme, “Footprints of Greece,” was represented in entertainment by traditional Greek dancers from St. George Greek Orthodox Church, music from Cincinnati-based band Lazaros and a five-course authentic Greek meal.

The Herald-Dispatch’s own James “Jim” Casto, a retired editor, served as master of ceremonies at the event.

Since 2002, the library gala has featured a different country, including Italy, France, Australia, Argentina, Spain, Germany, Ireland, South Africa, Egypt, Medieval England, Brazil, Scotland, Israel, Japan, USA and Holland.
