Weber St. 80, Pepperdine 54
OGDEN, Utah (AP) _ Damien Baskerville scored 14 points and Eric Ketcham had 12 rebounds to lead Weber State to an 80-54 win over Pepperdine University Friday night at the Dee Event Center.
Pepperdine was led by Marc McDowell who scored 10 points and Tommy Prince with nine rebounds.
The Wildcats and Waves traded baskets early in the first half, but Weber State went ahead when Baskerville hit a pair of foul shots with 12:15 to play. Weber then went on a 16-6 run overt the next nine minutes. Ryan Cuff hit a two foul shots with three minutes before the intermission for a 30-19 lead.
Cuff had six points and Baskerville had five during the run.
Pepperdine trailed 36-28 at the half.
Brian Hill made a field goal to start the second half for Pepperdine, making the scored 36-30, however that was as close as the Waves would come in the game.
Weber State coach Ron Abegglen played his entire bench in the second half. Alex Fisher hit back to back three-pointers and with 7:53 to play Weber State led 61-40.
The lead expanded to 80-50 as Nathan Miller made two foul shots with 35 second left in the game.
As a team, Weber out-rebounded Pepperdine 57-35 and the Waves only hit 44 percent from the foul line, while the Wildcats hit 76 percent of their foul shots.
