MONTANA TROOPER SHOT _ A Montana Highway Patrol trooper who was shot three times while investigating a fatal Missoula shooting in mid-March is scheduled to return home this week. The Department of Justice says Wade Palmer is scheduled to be released from the University of Utah Hospital on Wednesday and fly back to Missoula. A motorcade will escort him home.
TRIBAL OFFICERS-ASSAULT CHARGES _ Two Chippewa Cree law enforcement officers have been suspended after being charged with assault. Prosecutors say officers Cody Lamere and Kyle LaFramboise were not on duty when they allegedly broke into a house at 4 a.m. on April 22 and Lamere assaulted a sleeping man who was in bed with the mother of LaFramboise’s child.
CROW RESERVATION-BOIL ORDER _ Crow tribal officials have lifted a boil order for the Pryor water system after finding no contamination. The order was put in place last week after electricity to the system was shut off because the tribe failed to pay its power bill. The pumps lost power, causing some distribution system lines to lose pressure, which could have allowed contaminants into the pipes.
CARNIVAL WORKER-SEXUAL ASSAULT _ Prosecutors say a carnival worker accused of sexually assaulting women and a girl at the Montana State Fair last year was arrested after he groped an off-duty police detective who had training as a special victims unit officer. The Great Falls Tribune reports opening arguments were made Monday in the trial of Roberto Salaman-Garcia, who is charged with four counts of sexual assault.
