NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Shane Doan scored twice and added an assist as the Phoenix Coyotes beat the Nashville Predators 6-3 Tuesday night for their seventh-straight victory.

Phoenix scored three goals in a span of 1:25 in the first period to grab a a 3-0 lead.

The loss was a team-record sixth straight for the Predators, who scored on a power-play slap shot in the second period by Drake Berehowsky and third-period goals by Patric Kjellberg and Kimmo Timonen.

Timonen’s goal cut the lead to 4-3 with 4:54 left, but Keith Tkachuk scored less than a minute later and then added his 11th goal of the season with 1:43 remaining to finish the scoring.

Doan, linemate Mika Alatalo, and Rick Tocchet did the damage in the first period for the Coyotes, who have outscored opponents 21-8 the last four games. Doan scored his career-high ninth goal in the second period for his second straight two-goal game.

Doan’s first goal was a snap wrister from the left circle. His second came when he put his own rebound past Tomas Vokoun.

Goaltender Bob Essensa, who was signed as a free agent in September, improved to 7-0-1. His acquisition was crucial for the Coyotes, who never agreed to terms with Nikolai Khabibulin and recently lost veteran Sean Burke for at least six weeks with a thumb injury.

Vokoun fell to 0-7-1 after posting 12 victories last year.

The Coyotes franchise record for consecutive wins is nine, set while the team was in Winnipeg in 1985.
