Havasu woman arraigned in alleged theft, sale of gun
A Lake Havasu City woman was arraigned Monday on felony charges of theft and trafficking in stolen property.
According to statements she allegedly gave police, Kristina S. Planells, 30, was financially struggling when she stole a handgun from a friend’s unlocked safe and sold the weapon to a Maricopa Avenue pawn shop. The theft was reported Aug. 25, and a subsequent police investigation allegedly showed that Planells sold the weapon for $200 on July 11. Police located Planells’ vehicle in the area of Downtown Havasu on Aug. 26, and officers located Planells at a nearby pub.
Planells allegedly gave a statement to police by telephone prior to her arrest, admitting to the crime.
Planells was released on her own recognizance, and is scheduled to appear at a change of plea hearing Oct. 29.
