Police: Woman Dragged To Woods, Sexually Assaulted In W-B

WILKES-BARRE — A woman walking downtown early Tuesday was dragged into a wooded area and sexually assaulted, according to police.

The 41-year-old victim reported the assault began as she was walking toward a Turkey Hill Minit Market around 1 a.m.

As she walked through the parking lot of the Jewelcor building at 100 N. Wilkes-Barre Blvd., a man grabbed her and dragged her to a wooded area between East Market Street and North Pennsylvania Avenue, police said.

The woman was sexually assaulted by a man described as black and in his 30s, standing 6 feet tall, police said. He had an average build and was wearing a red and white hooded sweatshirt, according to police.

The investigation into the attack was continuing.
