Lions Re-Sign Sloan and Tharpe

PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) _ Tight end David Sloan and offensive tackle Larry Tharpe signed one-year contracts with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday.

Sloan, 26, a restricted free agent, played in 14 games, starting 12, and caught a career-high 29 passes for 264 yards. Sloan has played in 34 games in three seasons, making 53 catches for 499 yards.

Tharpe, 27, an unrestricted free agent, started at right tackle for the Lions in 15 regular-season games and the playoff game against Tampa Bay. He also has played for New England and Arizona.

Financial terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
