76ers’ Geiger To Have Knee Surgery
PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Matt Geiger of the Philadelphia 76ers will have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Thursday and should miss 4-6 weeks.
Geiger, who has sat out 11 of the last 13 games because of recurring pain and weakness in his right leg, visited orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. on Wednesday. Andrews will perform the surgery.
``Matt did not respond to rehabilitation, injections or rest,″ team physician Dr. Jack McPhilemy said.
Geiger has appeared in nine of 30 games this season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee during training camp. He’s averaging 6.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
