MINIMUM WAGE

TRENTON _ New Jersey lawmakers are set to begin considering a bill to hike the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2024. The Assembly Labor Committee is set to consider the legislation Thursday.Gov. Phil Murphy, Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin announced a deal on the wage last week. They’re all Democrats.

ELECTION 2020-DEMOCRATS

WASHINGTON _ A full year before the first round of presidential primary voting finds diversity already a hallmark of the field of possible Democratic contenders. Four of those who have either moved toward a campaign or declared their candidacy are women, and one of them is African-American. Another White House hopeful is Latino, and one is gay.
