KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Tampa Bay outfielder Jose Guillen was carted off the field Thursday night after injuring his left leg while stepping onto first base.
Guillen was taken away on a stretcher after play was halted for about 10 minutes in the seventh inning.
After grounding to third baseman Joe Randa, Guillen came down on the base with his left foot. The foot skidded across the bag and appeared to snap backward as it dragged in the dirt. He was safe on Randa’s throwing error.
There was no immediate word on the extent of the injury.
