WEST PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Two Scioto County men were arrested Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation into several stolen vehicles, according to a news release from the office of Sheriff Marty V. Donini.
The sheriff’s office received a call Sunday from Tires R Us on Ohio 73 stating that a black 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck had been stolen, according to Capt. John W. Murphy of the sheriff’s office.
On Monday, the sheriff’s office received two more reports of stolen vehicles, one from Family Dollar in Otway and a second from Goodies Auto Sales in West Portsmouth. One of the vehicles was a blue Ford F-150 truck. The other was a white Chevrolet Silverado.
Deputy Daniel Thompson got information Monday that a truck matching the description of the one stolen from Goodies Auto Sales was seen along Dry Run Road in West Portsmouth, according to the release.
Thompson and Deputy Shawn Brammer responded to a location in the 1700 block and detained two suspects without incident for questioning, according to the release.
Two of the vehicles were recovered, according to Murphy. Detectives were able to locate another truck that had been stolen earlier this week from Family Dollar.
Richard Colley, 29, who is listed as homeless, was charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle and was transported to the Scioto County Jail in Portsmouth, where he was being held on $15,000 bond.
Michael Perdu, 27, of the 200 block of Main Street in West Portsmouth, was charged with one count of theft of a motor vehicle and one count of receiving stolen property. He also was lodged in the Scioto County Jail on a bond of $10,000.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be presented to an upcoming Scioto County grand jury, according to the release.
