NEW YORK (AP) _ Fire swept through a mansion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side early today, killing two people who jumped out a fourth-floor window.
The fire broke out at about 4 a.m. on the third floor of the five-story townhouse on East 67th Street, said fire department spokesman Michael Regan. It caused extensive damage to the second, third and fourth floors, he said.
The dead were not immediately identified.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and five people who were in the house escaped uninjured, Regan said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
