Lucille Gearing, 99, formerly of Beaver Dam

Lucille B. (Coultas) Gearing, 99, Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, May 13, 2019, and is now with the Lord in heaven above.

She was born April 18, 1920, in Fox Lake, to parents Eugene and Ethel Coultas. She was married to Phil G. Gearing in July 1943. The couple lived in Milwaukee and then moved to Beaver Dam. They raised three children in Beaver Dam before moving to Lake Havasu, Arizona, in 1969 and later to Phoenix.

Lucille graduated from Teachers College and later taught in Beaver Dam for many years as a first-grade teacher at Washington School. She loved teaching all the small children she came in contact with and was a volunteer teacher for older people who were unable to read.

She was a former member of Grace Presbyterian Church and she belonged to The Eastern Star and many other groups in Beaver Dam.

She was preceded in death by her husband Phil in 2000; her son, Tom in 2004; her parents; her siblings, Helen (Harold) Bloohm and Mary Jean (Maurice) Mace both of Fox Lake, and Peter (Patricia) Coultas of Tucson, Arizona; and other relatives and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Dan) Kulka of Beaver Dam; a son, Greg (Andrea) Gearing of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren, Brad (Holly) Kulka of Beaver Dam, Erin (Clint) Wernimont of Platteville, Justin (Laura) Gearing of Limerick, Ireland, and Brandon Gearing of Phoenix, Arizona; five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Zak Kulka of Beaver Dam, Calvin and Lauren Wernimont of Platteville, and Brynna Gearing of Limerick, Ireland; two sister-in-laws; nieces and nephews.

She will be sadly missed by all. There will be a private family service at a later date.
