Brockton High student dies in crash

April 29, 2013

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — Police say a 17-year-old Brockton High School junior has died in a car crash in the city.

The school will make grief counselors available Monday following the crash just after midnight Sunday that took the life of Rosany Vieira. Four other people in the vehicle suffered injuries not considered life-threatening.

Authorities say Vieira was a passenger in a car returning from a baby shower in Stoughton that went out of control and struck a utility pole after passing another vehicle. She was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

No one in the other vehicle was hurt and authorities do not consider it involved in the crash.

Vieira had turned 17 earlier this month.

Vieira was involved in the school’s junior ROTC program.
