FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) — A 10-year-old has died after being removed from a private swimming pool in Framingham.

WBZ-TV reports (http://cbsloc.al/1Md8eh5) police said the girl was attending a family gathering Saturday when she showed some kind of distress in the water and was rescued by family members.

Deputy fire chief Stephen Stone said emergency responders were called at about 7 p.m. but were unable to revive the girl.

She was taken to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.

The Middlesex district attorney's office is investigating.
