Lowell’s Viewpoint Acquired by International Firm

September 19, 2018

LOWELL -- The Lowell-based video-voice security technology business Viewpoint was acquired by one of the world’s largest multinational security companies, officials announced Monday.

Viewpoint will be the first venture into the U.S. market by Prosegur Security, which employs roughly 170,000 people on six continents, Viewpoint Vice President Eric Jackel stated in an email.

“Prosegur Security has launched a technological transformation to improve our value proposition to clients,” stated Javier Tabernero, managing director of Prosegur, in a press release issued by the company.

“In this context, Viewpoint represents an ideal match for us as the company has developed a cutting-edge monitoring system that delivers immense value to its customers,” Tabernero added.

Viewpoint, founded more than 10 years ago, employs roughly 100 people, Jackel said. He added the company has been “hiring nearly nonstop for about five years now.”

Viewpoint serves clients with their video-voice security technology in multiple industries. The company works with retail and commercial operators, as well as with traditional guarding firms.

“When presented with the change to leverage our technology services and grow within the U.S. in a major way by joining Prosegur, my team and I knew it was far too good of an opportunity to pass up,” Viewpoint CEO Brad Gordon stated in Prosegur’s press release.

Viewpoint’s company plans involve keeping their operations based in the Mill City.

“It’s been a great home for the company since 2005,” Jackel said.

Prosegur, founded in Spain in 1976, is the fourth largest global player in the private security industry by revenue, the company’s release states.

“Prosegur Security, the business unit providing integrated security solutions, offers a high-added value proposition that combines physical surveillance with the latest advances in technology and analytics,” according to the release.
