Ohio man dies trying to save child who fell in river
MAD RIVER TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A man reportedly drowned in a river Monday after he jumped in while trying to rescue a young boy who had fallen into the water.
The man and the young boy were fishing on a rock on the Mad River when the boy slipped in, Mad River Fire Chief Tim Wendling tells the Dayton Daily News.
The unidentified man jumped in to help the boy but did not resurface, reports say.
Bystanders who witnessed the incident were able to save the boy. Canoers found the man and removed him from the water.
Rescue workers performed CPR on the man but he died at the scene, according to WDTN Channel 2.
