Missing nearly 3 weeks, Long Island man found dead in SUV

July 26, 2019

WEST ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a 45-year-old Long Island man has been found dead in his crashed SUV nearly three weeks after he was reported missing.

Suffolk County police say a passer-by spotted Thomas Kelsey, of Centereach, in his GMC Yukon in a ravine off Route 231 Thursday night. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe Kelsey veered off the road and crashed into the ravine on July 7. Newsday reports that Kelsey was last seen at a Lindenhurst restaurant that night.

Kelsey was reported missing July 9 after he didn’t show up for his job as a livery cab driver. Police and friends of Kelsey’s searched for the missing man but failed to find him.
