Vesper’s Berberian Gets 4th Straight PGA Slot

BLUFFTON, S.C. -- Rich Berberian Jr., the director of instruction at Vesper CC, sealed a spot in the PGA Championship with an even-par 72 in the final round of the PGA Professional Championships here Wednesday.

Berberian, a New Hampshire native, finished in a tie for 6th at 1-under par to punch his ticket to the PGA at Bethpage Black in New York in two weeks.

It will be the fourth consecutive year that Berberian has played in the PGA Championship.

Berberian carded trouble-free rounds of 72-70-72-72 over the four-day tournament that began with 312 players and was cut to the top 90 plus ties after two rounds, and the top 70 plus ties after the third round.

The top 20 finishers earn spots in the PGA. Alex Beach of Westchester CC in New York was the overall winner.

The 2018 NEPGA Section champion was the only New Englander to qualify.
