AP News Editor Barry Bedlan Promoted

ATLANTA (AP) _ Barry Bedlan, news editor for The Associated Press in Nebraska since 1999, has been named news editor in Atlanta.

The appointment was announced Wednesday by Georgia Chief of Bureau Gary Clark.

Bedlan, 32, joined the AP in Omaha, Neb., in 1995.

He grew up in Fairbury, Neb., and earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Creighton University in Omaha.

Before joining the AP, Bedlan worked for the Star-Herald in Scottsbluff, Neb.

In Atlanta, he succeeds Michael Giarrusso, who was promoted to director of state news/South for the news cooperative.
