City Council hears from public about sidewalks
The topic of Ludington’s sidewalk ordinance, which has become rather controversial in recent weeks, was discussed again by Ludington city councilors and the public.
The Ludington City Council met for a Council of the Whole meeting at 4:30 p.m. Monday in City Hall.
“We want this to be an input session where people air what’s on their minds,” said Interim City Manager Steve Brock.
The ordinance applies to all properties bordering public streets. It can require property owners to pay 50 percent of the cost to install a new sidewalk or repair a sidewalk on their land when owners build a new structure or before ownership of a property is transferred. The city would pay for the other 50 percent.
