3 Luzerne County Men Jailed On Burglary Charges
Three Luzerne County men are in jail after authorities arrested them in Wyoming County, on Sunday morning alleging they burglarized a Mehoopany Twp. home. Kevin Isbel Jr., 35, of Hunlock Creek; Charles Dale Atkinson, 38, of Luzerne; and Joseph Anthony Dickson, 47, of Trucksville were charged by Meshoppen Patrolman Sierra Crane with burglary and criminal trespass. Around 8:30 a.m., Crane was dispatched to a residence on Sheehan Road for a report of a burglary in progress. According to a criminal complaint, a neighbor observed three males running from the house and called authorities. The neighbor initially confronted the persons in the house, and yelled at them that he was going to call 911. State Trooper Andrew Burian encountered Dickson in a broken down Dodge Dakota and on his person had a glass pipe commonly used to smoke meth. He arrested Dickson. Another neighbor said he got a knock on the door from a stranger to the area who claimed to be broken down and was covered in mud, so he called authorities. Meshoppen Police Chief John Krieg responded to the area around Sugar Hollow Road and took Atkinson into custody. After receiving a dispatch that a third man was seen walking on Sugar Hollow Road, Tunkhannock Twp. Police Sgt. Robert Reimiller took Isbel into custody. According to the complaint, Isbel said he had been contacted at 6:30 a.m. by Dickson because his van was stuck in the mud. All three were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Plummer on Sunday who set bail for each at $50,000. Unable to post it, all were remanded to the county jail. All three are scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Judge Plummer on Jan. 15.
