Two Lady T-birds earn recognition: Lipinski, Willmore get Grand Canyon Honorable Mention
BULLHEAD CITY — Lady T-birds graduating seniors Bree Lipinski and Natalie Willmore each earned an Honorable Mention nod from the 4A Arizona Interscholastic Association Grand Canyon Region for their play on the volleyball court following the 2018 season.
“I was honestly surprised,” said Lipinski, who was Mohave High School’s setter last fall. “It was kind of a shock because we don’t expect to get recognition down here in Bullhead.
“It was nice to see that all of the hard work over the past four years has been worth it.”
Mohave head coach Zdenko Radic said his T-birds play in “probably” the best conference in the 4A division. “And for Natalie and Bree getting recognized is a great accomplishment — one they definitely deserve,” he added.
Radic said Lipinski got all of the T-birds involved involved in the game. “(She) does all of the little things on and off the court that a true leader would do.”
Lipinski praised Willmore for earning her recognition.
“Natalie definitely deserved it,” Lipinski said. “I even think she deserved a higher recognition. But I’m so happy that her talent and hard work was awarded. She drove the team this year and I’m very happy and proud of her.”
Radic added: “Natalie was our key player on offense and go-to player last season.”
Willmore played middle hitter during her first three season before Radic moved her to the right side before her senior campaign.
“She adjusted in no time,” Radic said. “If we needed a side out or a key point, we would set the ball to her and she delivered every time.”
Lipinski and Willmore did more than just play volleyball for Mohave.
“Both of them are great students and have a great personality,” Radic said.
