AFTON, Wyo. (AP) _ Olympic wrestling champion Rulon Gardner was flown to a hospital Friday after he became stranded during a snowmobiling trip and spent the night outdoors.

A spokesman for Gardner, Shannon Kelly, said Gardner is alert and able to answer questions. No further information about his condition was immediately available.

Gardner became separated from friends when his snowmobile got bogged down in deep snow near his hometown of Afton in western Wyoming, Kelly said.

A search was launched after friends reported him missing at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. He was found Friday morning, Kelly said.
