Winfield sprinter expects success

CHARLESTON — Allie Germann is accustomed to being on the move.

The Winfield High School freshman track star ran a personal-best 12.39 seconds in the preliminaries of the Class AA girls 100-meter dash Friday at the state track and field meet at University of Charleston Stadium. That effort was the best in the state this year heading into Saturday’s finals.

“I kind of expected it, I guess,” Germann said, humbly preferring to talk about her team. “I’m excited about our 4x100 (relay) team. That’s a great team.”

Germann joins Emily Bryant, Rylee Hinkle and Molly Wallace on the relay squad. Germann is new to Winfield and her teammates are glad to have the standout runner/jumper who has moved “five or six times” in her young life.
