KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Northern Iowa’s Jason Daisy had 18 points and two other Panthers scored in double figures in drilling Missouri-Kansas City 84-59 Monday night at Kemper Arena.
Daisy also had seven rebounds for the Panthers (4-3). Junior Chris Burdine added 14 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Cory Jenkins added 10 points.
Junior Lonnie Alexander was the scoring leader for the Kangaroos (3-7) with 15 points and sophomore Nick Richmond added 14. Junior Vinson Smith was the game’s leading rebounder with nine.
UMKC led 16-15 with 9:58 left the first half, but the Panthers used a 15-5 run in the next five minutes to lead 30-21 at the 5:14 mark.
Northern Iowa led 38-25 at halftime, then put the game out of reach with a 19-8 run during a span of 3:50 in the second half. They led 55-39 with 11:01 left in the game.
Northern Iowa was 35 of 66 from the floor, while the Kangaroos were 24-of-65.
The 84 points were the most this season for the Panthers, and the most allowed by the Kangaroos, while the margin was the biggest victory so far for the Panthers and the biggest loss for the Kangaroos.
