August 18, 2018

NORFOLK - On Monday President Donald Trump signed the $717 billion National Defense Authorization Act that will help fund a variety of different areas within the military.

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer tells News Talk WJAG there’s one thing the bill does that’s very important.

“It adds more revenue to our military so that we can give our military men and women the resources that they need. We’re looking at planes that don’t fly so we need to take care of that and make sure the military has the training they need so their readiness is at the level it needs to be.”

Fischer also said the military men and women will receive a 2.6% pay raise which they haven’t seen in quite a while. We’re looking at planes that don’t fly

The Army will get 135 brand new Abrams M1A1 tanks, 60 Bradley fighting vehicles, and new Black Hawk and Apache helicopters.

The military funding may also make way for President Trump to implement his plan in creating a Space Force as the sixth branch of the military.
