LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Three Jockeys sued the California Horse Racing Board on Wednesday over riding suspensions imposed on them.

Rene Douglas and J.C. Gonzalez were suspended for three racing days and Gary Stevens was suspended for five days for an incident in Sunday's second race at Santa Anita.

The CHRB, in handing down the suspensions, claimed the jockeys failed to maintain a straight course in the stretch drive and caused interference, according to the suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Attorney Shauna Weeks said the jockeys are appealing the board's ruling and that they will lose a significant amount of money if they aren't allowed to ride.

A CHRB spokesman had not seen the lawsuit and declined comment.
