‘Star Wars’ Trailer to Debut on Fox
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A new commercial for the upcoming ``Star Wars: Episode II _ Attack of the Clones″ is set to debut Sunday on Fox.
The 2 1/2-minute trailer will be broadcast between new episodes of ``Malcolm in the Middle″ and ``The X-Files.″
Fox’s theatrical division, 20th Century Fox, is distributing the Lucasfilm adventure, which arrives in theaters May 16. The film is a sequel to ``The Phantom Menace″ but occurs before events in the original ``Star Wars″ trilogy.
The footage will show some of the elaborate special effects and battle sequences in the new movie.
``We’re going to see hundreds of Jedi, hundreds of lightsabers, thousands of clones, in a huge battle. The trailer gives just a hint of what’s to come,″ said Lucasfilm marketing executive Jim Ward.
A previous trailer for the film appeared before the Disney film ``Monsters, Inc.″ and another was available on the Internet.
The latest trailer will also be shown before the 20th Century Fox animated film ``Ice Age,″ which opens March 15.
