Madison County sees average turnout in voter totals

November 10, 2018

MADISON - It was an average turnout for Madison County voters Tuesday for the midterm elections.

That’s according to Madison County Clerk Nancy Scheer who tells News Talk WJAG the 49% turnout is usually what the County sees during midterms.

Scheer says there were quite a few close local races, and the canvassing board will be going through the provisional ballots Thursday.

“I anticipate that will have a little bit of an impact on the fourth of the Norfolk City Council race. We have determined that there are 16 provisional ballots in all three of those voting precincts that could affect the outcome of the race.”

The unofficial results have Jarad Dahlkoetter with 580 votes over Fred Wiebelhaus who received 579 votes.

Scheer says if an automatic recount is determined by the canvassing board, that’ll be held next week.
