SHERBROOKE, Que. (AP) _ Glenn Merkosky scored a pair of goals, one of them during a four-goal second-period burst, as the Adirondack Red Wings erased a 3-1 deficit to beat the Sherbrooke Canadiens 5-4 in American Hockey League action Sunday night.

Adirondack took command of the game in the second period with four unanswered goals. Geordie Robertson scored to cut the lead to 3-2 at 2:13. Merkosky then evened the score with a power play goal at 5:52, redirecting a pass behind Sherbrooke goaltender Jocelyn Perreault. Dale Krentz put the Red Wings ahead 4-3 at 18:36, and Ken Strong added the fifth goal 49 seconds later.

The Canadiens had built their 3-1 lead in the first period on goals 24 seconds apart by Gilles Thibodeau and Jose Charbonneau.

Defenseman Peter Taglianetti staked the Canadiens to a 1-0 lead when he scored his first goal of the year at 1:59 of the opening session.

Jose Charbonneau’s seventh of the season, at 11:10 of the final period, completed the scoring.
