HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) _ Marshall basketball star Tamar Slay was arrested on a drunken-driving charge.

The 22-year-old guard, arrested early Sunday, was released later in the day after posting bond. A hearing was scheduled for May 9.

He faces up to six months in jail and a $500 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor charge.

Slay was arrested after stopping his car in the middle of the street and almost causing an accident, police said. His blood-alcohol content was above the legal limit, police Officer Ed Wilds said.

Calls to the Marshall athletic department were not immediately returned.

The 6-foot-9, 205-pound Slay, a senior next season, finished fifth in Mid-American Conference scoring with a 17.3 average last season. He led the MAC in scoring the year before with a 19.9 average.
