Pakistan spinners dismiss Australia for 303
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Newcomer Yasir Shah and Zulfiqar Babar fetched Pakistan a strong lead of 151 runs by dismissing Australia for 303 on the third day of the first test on Friday.
Legspinner Shah chipped in with 3-66 while left-arm spinner Babar claimed 2-81 and exposed Australia’s vulnerability against slow bowlers on a sub-continent-like slow pitch.
Opening batsman David Warner thwarted the spinners for well over 4 1/2 hours in scoring 133, his third successive test century, but his teammates were tamed before No. 8 Mitchell Johnson made 37 for a late boost to the total.
Resuming at 113-0, Australia lost four wickets each in the first two sessions and never looked at ease against either spinners or the reverse swing of inexperienced fast bowlers Rahat Ali, 2-55, and another newcomer Imran Khan, 1-41.
